Photographs of the Memorial Pavers which form the Asbestos Victims Memorial Walkway constructed in Oct/Nov 2011

Photographs of Jack Watkins Reserve during the transformation of the Islington Rail Workers Memorial to make it a Memorial to ALL Victims of Asbestos Related Diseases. The original Memorial was opened in August 2003 and the Memorial Walkway was built in Oct/Nov 2011.

On Tuesday 22nd November 2011 the Sole Patron of ADSSA His Excellency Rear Admiral Kevin Scarce AC. CSC. RANR Governor of South Australia invited the guests and hosted a reception at Government House Adelaide as a thank you to those that had helped ADSSA during the first 6+ years of its operation. Over 100 guests enjoyed the evening.

On 25th November 2011 Australia's First Asbestos Victims Memorial Walkway was opened. It will be a lasting Memorial to all victims of Asbestos Diseases. Many thanks go to the City of Port Adelaide Enfield Council for providing the basics of this reserve.
At the opening 36 Memorial Pavers were in place. Whilst it is sincerely hoped we will never replace all blank pavers with Memorial ones, newly engraved Memorial Pavers can be ordered through ADSSA.
Both the Premier of South Australia Hon. Jay Weatherill MP and the Mayor of Port Adelaide Enfield officially opened the Memorial Walkway at 8:30am on Friday 25th November 2011.
